Ceremony and Reception
The ceremony will take place on November 20, 2010 at 4:00pm at The Garten Verein in Kempner Park, Galveston Texas USA. The Garten Verein (“Garden Club” in German) sits in Kempner Park and is a survivor of the Great 1900 Storm that devastated the island. The Garten Verein was the center of 19th-century refined social life in Galveston.

For the out of town guests: Make travel arrangements to Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH), or Houston Hobby Airport (HOU). IAH is the international airport, and HOU has limited service on air carriers such as Southwest Airlines. There are two options to get to Galveston Island from the airports. First, check with a number of car rental agencies. Or second, Super Shuttle van service can take you between the airport and Hotel Tremont in Galveston.
From Houston: Take I-45 South to Galveston. I-45 turns into Broadway Street. Turn right on 25th St from Broadway towards Seawall Blvd. Turn right on Avenue O. Garten Verein will be two blocks after the turn on the right hand side.
From the Hotel Tremont: Take 25th St towards Seawall Blvd. Turn right on Avenue O. Garten Verein and Kempner park will be two blocks after the turn on the right hand side.
Additional information: The reception will follow immediately after the ceremony. There will be an hour of cocktails and hor d’oeuvres after the ceremony, followed by dinner and dancing (all night long).
Attire: The wedding is black tie optional. Ladies, the wedding is in the lawn of the park between two lovely trees. Please consider bringing flats or wedges to wear during the ceremony. The reception site has hard wood floors, so no worries there!
